CASA OCTAEVO

(CLOSE)

Octaevo is a Barcelona-based design brand inspired by the culture, colors, and myths of the Mediterranean. It creates contemporary objects with meaning, where design reflects personality and attention to detail. Founded by Marcel Baer, the brand was born from family memories linked to the sea and Mediterranean travels. Octaevo combines craftsmanship and technology and maintains a strong commitment to sustainability and creating pieces designed to last.

Casa Octaevo is located in a 300 m² industrial space in Barcelona's Poblenou neighborhood: a space that functions as the brand's offices, but which, as its name suggests, is conceived and experienced as a home. The layout is structured around the kitchen as the heart of the project, accompanied by a large dining room that symbolizes gathering and shared life.

The architecture is expressed through curved volumes that bring sensitivity and coherence to the brand's identity, combined with elegant materials and a large glass block wall that allows natural light to filter through and bathe all the spaces.

The house is structured around different spaces that flow seamlessly into one another. Separated from the large kitchen by curtains is the main work area, defined by expansive windows and two large tables designed for collaborative work. Behind the curved volumes are the meeting rooms, which extend the overall sense of understated elegance through the use of restrained materials and vertical curves.

At the back, behind the glass block wall, a large workshop space opens up, where natural light filters in subtly and combines with curtains, creating an atmosphere conducive to inspiration and the creative process.

The heart of the house is the space that invites gathering and defines the project's identity. A sculptural island in stainless steel, with curved lines and subtle details, presents itself with quiet elegance, contrasting with a large glass brick wall that allows natural light to filter through while preserving privacy between the open space and the workshop where the brand creates its products. In this open area, a large built-in table, over five meters long, is raised on two gently curved supports that evoke Mediterranean forms, reinforcing the idea of conviviality and inviting guests to sit in Stedelijk chairs by Sabine Marcelis (bd), which complement the colors and geometry of the space.

Beyond a curtain line lies the workspace, a serene area designed for concentration and comfort. Light colors predominate, and the bookcase, in equally serene tones, serves as a backdrop to highlight the brand's own objects, which lend character and personality. The curves of the walls, along with their textures inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and materials, create a welcoming and comfortable environment, where one feels at home while working.

The meeting rooms are located behind curved walls, with glass doors and large tables that serve their purpose. They are the only enclosed spaces in the offices, where the sensibility present throughout the house is preserved through small details. The combination of the red Luminator lamp by Flos, the warmth of the wooden chairs (Frama), the objects by Octaevo, and vintage design pieces from Fenix Originals creates a bright, welcoming, and inspiring atmosphere.

The workshop is located behind the glass block wall, sheltering the creations while receiving abundant natural light. This space connects the secondary entrance, the storage area, and the heart of the project, functioning not only as a workspace but also as a location for photoshoots or multipurpose activities. Its flexibility and character are accentuated by the curved curtains that allow the environment to be adapted to each need.
